About Us
Raise the Roof Galiano is a team of volunteers who are passionate about building affordable rental housing on our island. RTR began as a grassroots, community initiated and run event and has been putting the FUN in fundraisers since May 2021. We raise funds for GALI and GIGARHS affordable housing societies on Galiano Island, BC as they work towards building a total of 32 affordable and secure homes for singles, couples, families and seniors.
FUNDRAISERS
Numerous individuals and community organizations have generously donated time, services, expertise, products, gift certificates and funds to support RTR initiatives.
Past Fundraisers
Moving sales; a bird-house building contest; a gingerbread house contest; Christmas ornament contests; a Benefit Concert with local musicians and writers; sailing charters; Rave the Roof Music Festival; a Farm Picnic; a children’s Christmas ornament workshop; a Christmas wreath making workshop; sales of our very cool swag; and, of course, our much-loved auctions.

AUCTIONS
Repurpose for a Purpose!
Our regular Facebook peer-to-peer online auctions have become hugely popular as a fun way to raise funds and meet friends and neighbours along the way.
Auctions run noon Thursday - noon Tuesday over long weekends throughout the year, except January and December. Instructions in our about section on FB.

GALI & GIGARHS
GALI is working on Thuthiqut Hulelum’, 20 clustered homes on the 10-acre property formerly known as Galiano Green at 280 Georgeson Bay Road, adjacent to Page Drive Seniors Residence. With guidance from indigenous community members and elders, the project has been given the name Thuthiqut Hulelum’, which means “Forest Homes” in the Hul’q’umi’num’ language.
